TEA AND ITS FLAVORS…
Do you know the six main flavors of tea?
As we already know, tea comes from the shrub Camellia sinensis, any drink not made with this plant is not properly tea. For example, rosemary, anise, or ginger tea, besides being delicious or medicinal, are given the wrong name. I invite you to discover the original flavors of tea.
White Tea: For this tea, the tenderest buds or sprouts of the plant are selected while still covered with white hairs, hence its name. Its flavor is soft and dry; among all teas, it is considered the freshest, can be drunk throughout the day, and can accompany any meal.
Yellow Tea: It is one of the lesser-known; during its production, the tea slowly oxidizes in cloth or paper moistened with steam. This process softens the flavor and gives it its characteristic yellow color. It has a much lighter flavor, comparable to green teas, but with less vegetal notes.
Green Tea: It is full of nutrients and is one of the most consumed worldwide. The main difference compared to other varieties is its low degree of oxidation. You will love it if you are looking for a tea with fruity or floral flavors, with a tender bitterness.
Black Tea: Its production process is the longest compared to other varieties, which makes its flavor more intense. The black tea family is numerous, and within it, we can find fruity, toasted, chocolatey, and even floral flavors.
Oolong Tea: Its degree of oxidation is lower than black tea but higher than green tea; leaves that undergo a short process tend to have sweet and floral flavors. Those with a higher degree of oxidation usually have more intense flavors.
Red Tea or Pu-erh: Its main characteristic, and what makes it special, is that it is a fermented tea. It has a distinct flavor from any other tea, with an earthy, powerful, and refreshing taste.
